Striding Positively Into The Future
At a quick glance they can be easily mistaken for two beauty queens but behind the two attractive faces are two youthful, positive legal minds who are stepping out into the future with a view of establishing themselves.
Meet Midge Morton of Nevis and Maurisha Robinson of Jamaica. The two young Attorneys who both studied at Cave Hill Campus in Barbados and at the Norman Manley Law school in Jamaica ‘hit it off’ from their very first causal meeting at a restaurant.
Later they both joined the staff at the renowned Daniel-Brantley and Associates firm in Charlestown, within a month of each other.
Now in 2014, the two dynamic young Lawyers are stepping confidently into the unknown as partners in the newest Law firm on Nevis.
They have different personalities but maybe that is the exact reason why there was CHEMISTRY from their first causal meeting but they share similar goals of fairness for all and an attitude of giving back to the community.
Both enjoy advocacy and litigation as they both thrived at their various schools in the debating societies where they excelled.
Maurisha started out as a Teacher and gained her first degree in Education and was later drawn to the legal field which she pursued with zeal and excelled in her studies. She has been called to the bar in St.Kitts and Nevis and her homeland Jamaica.
Attached to her name are the following: B.ED (Hons); DIP (Hons); LLB (Hons);
Midge for her part was always to use her term, ‘argumentative for a good cause.’ She is also the sister of the late Runako Morton, the former Nevis, Leewards and West Indies middle order batsman.
She also excelled in her legal studies and was called to the bar in St.Kitts and Nevis and later in Anguilla as well.
Attached to her name are the following: LLB (Hons); LEC; NP; TEP.
Their soon to be opened Law firm will be located at the Heritage Plaza on Main Street in Charlestown.--suites 6 and 7 to be exact.
Additionally, it’s not all about money for the two young ladies. They truly want to give back to the community and with this in mind they will shortly be commencing some legal briefs on radio and television shows, along with articles in the local newspapers, all with a view of educating the public on general and basic legal issues.
Furthermore, they also intend to commence the first ever LEGAL CLINIC on the island which is a facility that will endeavour to assist persons who are determined to not be in a position to pay their legal fees when required to do so.
The two young Attorneys at law do not know what the future holds but with their basic trust and confidence placed squarely in the hands of God, they are stepping out with the confidence that they will be successful in their endeavours.
